The 1st November saw the first “Supper Club” take place in our yurt, this time with a Halloween themed menu.
Tickets for this atmospheric dining night sold out and over 40 diners, some in fancy dress, made their way down a candlelit pathway to the pumpkin adorned yurt.
Everyone enjoyed a feast of devilishly good food- all made from seasonal, homegrown or locally sourced ingredients of course.
The night kicked off with “apple bobbing’ cocktails, a wicked concoction of vodka and cinnamon spiced syrup, topped with a tiny toffee apple. Creepy canapés that included ‘Bloody Mary’ soup shots and liver and ‘slime” (Calvados jelly) on brioche toasts, accompanied the welcome drinks.
Hollowed out homegrown pumpkins acted as bowls for the spiced pumpkin soup, whilst beetroot ‘worms’ adorned the ‘Phantom Pheasant’ terrine. The main event was a medley of Amersham pork, dressed up with obligatory Halloween theme as ‘Belly of Pork, Blood Pudding, Crispy Pigs ear, green apple puree, cider jus’.
The dessert was a celebration of Peterley homegrown apples- a “Toffee Apple Trifle” consisting of mulled cider jelly, apple compote, caramel custard, calvados cream and on the side a homemade apple doughnut!
Diners were even treated to some bespoke petit fours courtesy of local chocolatier, Sara-Jane. http://www.thecocoagarden.co.uk
A fantastic start to the first of many supper clubs to come!
