The warm weather means that the Brills are busy on the farm this week. Summer vegetable plants including broad and peas have been planted today which will be ready for harvesting in July. These annual plants have to be replanted every Spring. We must wait long enough for the ground to be warm enough for the seeds to grow but not so late that they aren’t ready in time for the summer pickers!
We still use a traditional method of planting, a tractor drags a planter which seats two agile and eager planters (or rather two Brill children suffering bribes), enabling the seeds to be dropped into the ground by hand.
Next on the list… cauliflowers, cabbages and calabrese!
