The Sun Inn is nestled in the South Oxfordshire village of Whitchurch Hill and is run by the enterprising couple Nina Taraborelli and Giles Langford since they took it over in September 2016.
Both trained chefs, the couple have experience cooking internationally which reflects in their eclectic menus. Giles cut his teeth at Clivedon House, but has worked in London as well as private cheffing, working alongside some top chefs his time including Gordon Ramsey, Tom Aikens and Gary Rhodes. Nina trained in Dubai but as a half Italian who grew up in Singapore she brings some interesting influences with her cooking.
The couple are passionate about using the local ingredients on offer in the Chilterns but are just as happy to allow their more exotic experiences influence their offering which includes handmade pasta and Singaporean Laska, sitting alongside traditional fish and chips and dressed Devonish crab. They believe their menu represents an authentic representation of themselves and although some of the recipes might be at odds with the Chilterns setting, the food is firmly rooted in the seasonal produce.
With high hopes to turn their traditional pub into a destination, the couple are not stopping there. They are organising cocktail nights, whisky tasting, developing a kitchen garden and planning events with local producers including wild game to really bring their pub and the ingredients to life.
